Get Volunteering
If you’ve been thinking about giving back and volunteering, there is a new Facebook app (from Manulife) that matches you with local volunteer opportunities based on your likes and interests. I had seen the commercial a few days ago promoting the tool but it wasn’t until I saw the Facebook ad unit that I clicked through and took a look.
The great thing about this program is that they will donate $25 to one of 6 charities for each person who uses the application. Now, ‘using’ the application requires a bit more than just playing around. You need to set up your profile, get matched, share photos and stories with friends.
Once you’ve reached 100% on your “Goodometer” they will make a donation. So far they’ve awarded $3,075 and I think this program has a lot of potential if folks share it around.
I strongly recommend you check out the website to learn more and then utilize the Facebook application and promote it to your friends. I personally have a short list of organizations I didn’t even know existed that I want to reach out to and work with.
